Thaxted

Thaxted:

These photographs were made in Thaxted during the annual Morris dancing celebrations.

The work is not meant as a record of tradition, but as an observation of ritual as it exists now, performed in public space and shaped by light and atmosphere.

I am interested in how these moments sit between the formal and the everyday: the repetition of movement, shared knowledge, and the seriousness beneath what is often seen as spectacle.

The images are held in the warmth of the day and the familiarity of place, allowing the tradition to appear not as something preserved, but as something lived.
